Gas sampling system – OGS 3

For total solutions in gas sampling

The OGS 3 the latest generation of our gas sampling system, building on more than 30 years of proven field performance aboard vessels and offshore installations worldwide. It delivers continuous, reliable gas detection in spaces where conventional point sensors cannot be installed, such as water ballast tanks, pump rooms, void spaces, cofferdams, and cargo holds.

The OGS 3.2 platform is the latest generation of our gas sampling system and replaces the previous OGS 3.11 and OGS 3.1 systems, consolidating three decades of maritime and offshore experience into a single modernized architecture with a PLC backbone, full-color touchscreen HMI, and IACS UR E27 cybersecurity compliance from day one.

Two solutions, one platform

The OGS 3.2 Maritime is configured for safe-zone installation and covers all typical marine applications, tankers, ballast tank monitoring, pump rooms and void spaces in the cargo area. The Maritime variant carries DNV system type approval, removing the need for an on-site FAT with a class surveyor and shortening commissioning time.

The OGS 3.2 EX carries full EX certification (IIB T4) and is designed for direct installation in Zone 1 hazardous areas. Placing the detector cabinet at the source of potential gas release dramatically reduces tube lengths, accelerates response times, and keeps the safe zone uncontaminated. The EX variant is the natural choice for FPSOs, FLNGs, FSRUs, drill ships, and offshore platforms.

Both variants share the same PLC platform, HMI software, communication architecture, and spare parts, simplifying training, fleet stocking, and lifecycle support.

Intuitive and efficient

The OGS 3.2 runs a fully automated sampling sequence based on the proven dual-pump principle: a main pump continuously draws air from every sample point, while a dedicated sample pump delivers the selected line to the gas sensor. Fresh samples are always immediately available at the sensor, ensuring the fastest possible response when gas is detected. The system continuously self-verifies all pneumatic, electrical, and communication components, automatically running self-remedy procedures or reporting issues with specific diagnostic codes.

All operation, configuration, and calibration are performed directly from the touchscreen. Plain-text alarms, role-based access control, and on-screen point exclusion eliminate the need for laptops, specialist software, or programming tools on site.

Scalability and integration

Multiple detector cabinets can operate under a single alarm cabinet, scaling seamlessly from a few sample points to multi-cabinet installations covering up to 96 points. The OGS 3.2 is fully compatible with the Autronica point gas detection system OGS 2.2, allowing sampling and point gas detection to share the same alarm cabinet, HMI, and communication backbone providing one unified gas detection solution for the entire vessel.

Every system ships completely assembled, wired, programmed, and factory tested. On-site work is reduced to cable connections and tube routing.

Compliance

The OGS 3.2 fulfills the latest requirements from IMO, IACS (including UR E27 cybersecurity) and all major classification societies.

OGS 3.11  (Obsolete)

The OGS 3.11 is the ideal gas sampling system for all typical marine applications. Based on our more than 20 years of experience we have optimized the system to meet the demanding maritime conditions and to become the all-round solution for monitoring the air content in e.g. water ballast tanks, pump rooms or void spaces in the cargo area.
